Dosa - Miserable experience at Dosa on Fillmore

A few months back I went to the other Dosa (on Fillmore) and had a TERRIBLE experience. You see, I'm incredibly allergic to peppers (the vegetable) - bells, chilis, you name it, I can't eat it. While the wait staff was very understanding, the chef REFUSED to accommodate my severe food allergy. Please recognize that I wasn't insisting that certain dishes be made pepper-free; rather I literally said I would have anything they could make without peppers. Even then, when things came, they had peppers.

Polish & European Delikateski - sucked out load

This place was horrible!!! The women behind the counter was very rude. I traveled 3 ½ hrs to get to this place because the man on the phone said d they had the Polish ham & many other Polish lunch meats I was looking for not to mention Kiszka. Got there and they had nothing…well not nothing lots of Polish Beer & Polish Cookies. The rye bread wasn’t even Polish! The Pierogi they had (I make my own would never buy but think I might go into business) was from Chicago & turns out they get all the meat from N.Y. City. Very disappointed. Have looked hi and low for a Polish Deli since I moved here from Chicago & I thought , after speaking to the man over the phone that I had found the Holy Grail! Turns out just some crappy Polish lady with nothing to offer. Though I will say it was fun to watch my 94 year old Babcia argue with the women in Polish! Don’t tell a 94 year old lady who grew up in Poland you have Polish food and then show her German Rye bread.

Pacific Bay Coffee - Best Espresso & Fresh Beans!

Pacific Bay has its own roaster on the premises. The baristas know how to make a real capuccino, not a foamy mess. Beans are always fresh, and a great selection of teas, too. Food is secondary, but anything tastes better with good espresso with fine crema or micro-foam from well-steamed milk. Thanks!

Taqueria La Herradura - Low cost Mex food

After five outings at "T la H" it's good to say this is one inexpensive and pleasant Mexican eatery in San Rafael. It's quieter than many, it's smaller, very clean and doesn't blare music--and their simple courtesy and overall attitudinal "fung shui" reminds me of real Mexico, only right down the street.

Saylor's Restaurant & Bar - The Best of Everything North or South

A favorite restaurant with friends and family, owned by fine people, Saylor's has a vast menu featuring seafood, pastas, South of the Border cuisine, the widest selection of tequilas that we know of in the Bay Area. Prices are reasonable. They also feature live bands on Friday and Saturdays nights AND the upstairs Cabo Wabo Room is a fantastic location for parties. I had mine in the Cabo Wabo last June for 40 people on a tight budget. The room is already festive, so setting it up was easy. Absolutely everyone complimented the Saylors on the food!

Ame - Not Memorable. Why do they deserve a Michelin star?

Many things here from the service on the floor to the cocktail menu to the food, are not superb. This is our third restaurant with one Michelin star in the Bay area and again we felt like the restaurant didn't carry itself up to the reputation.

Janta Indian Cuisine - Bay Area's Best

love this Indian restaurant. Indian food is by far my favorite food and I promise you the dishes at Janta are not like anything you've had before. I go to college on the east coast and the Chicken Tikka Masala (my favorite dish) is too tomato-ey. Janta's is much easier on the stomach and the spices and fragrant smells set me in a meditative mood. The Chai is also made with cardimmon and milk, not just the tea bag you get at Darbar and most other Indian restaurants. Overall, great home-y and warm place to eat and catch up with friends :)
