Saca's Mediterranean Cuisine - Newfound Falafel Lover!

Saca's is such a rare find! It's so refreshing to find a family-owned restaurant that provides top quality food and friendly service all at the same time! Go to Saca's and try out the falafel. When I went I had heard great things, so I had high expectations. Well, lets just say after trying it, the falafel was well ABOVE expectation and is now my absolute favorite! Try anything at Saca's and you'll leave satisfied.

Pinocchio's Pizza - Great Value

Pinnochios is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. The salads are always fresh and created with care. In 2 years, I have yet to have a piece of wilted lettuce or a tomato that isn't perfectly ripe. My favorite is the Chicken Parmesan, which is lightly battered and covered with fresh tomato sauce. There's that Fresh word again.

Maison Maurice - New in Beverly Hills

Maison Maurice was referred to me by a dear friend who has been a "Maurice" foodie for some time. I am not fond of French food but agreed to go with her. I was pleasantly surprised. The space is cozy and enchanting with lots to see and hear. The staff is attentive but Maurice is the real star. He is warm and friendly and made us feel special. The food was excellent. I had the marinated chicken with pepper sauce and my friend had a buttery rib eye steak. The portions were large and delicious. I felt like I was transformed to France for the evening. The only surprise was how reasonable it was. I plan to return whenever I am in the area.

Cafe Flourish - Cafe Flourish: May 'they' Flourish

This is the first plant-based cafe on the Miracle Mile and I used to have to travel to Silver Lake, Echo Park, Westside or Downtown to get food that was this clean and fresh. This cafe is literally 20 minutes from everything. The space has communal tables outside to eat in groups, great for meetings. Inside is seating for 10 with a cool space and great music. The service is super friendly and casual. The menu is posted on their website www.cafeflourish.com and you can't really go wrong with anything. From their pizzas to sandwiches. The Reuben is the best. The BLT&A a close second. The salads are as fresh as they get. Smoothies are $9 and you're like "am I paying 9 bucks for a smoothie?" then you sip it through the compostable to-go ware they use (everything in the place is compostable btw), that first sip leaves you with, "so this is what a $9 smoothie tastes like!" And I wasn't hungry again for hours. Deserts to die for and a highly addictive nature to the clean healthy grub. Only warning is you may find yourself going back often... like say, the next day. Bring cash and enjoy the question of the day and their post order wish... "may you flourish!"

The Bazaar At SLS - Afternoon Tea at The Bazaar

We made the reservation at 4:00 PM. We were not served tea until 4:25. My friend ordered the White Darjeeling tea and they offered him Orange Pekoe instead because they had ran out. I spoke to the manager, Andrew and reminded him that we came for their 'high tea' and the food finally arrived at 4:40 P.M. The food from their fixed menu came and this is nothing like high tea service/food that we had expected. Please don't waste your time because three hours later, I got sick from the salmon roe caviar that they served. Would I recommend this place for tea? NO. When I requested for another savory plate, the server responded by saying: " The chef has already packed up". This place has re-defined the word pretentious. I've had white glove service afternoon tea before but this one certainly is unforgettable because like they said, this is not like your 'traditional' afternoon tea. They were not kidding.

Sushi Yotsuya - More Traditional Than You Think.

Great sushi, and very traditional Japanese custom. In Japan, the best sushi places do not allow you to pick and choose. There is a correct order in which to eat sushi. I have been harshly yelled at more than once in Japan for ignoring this tradition. Yotsuya forces you to follow the strict order in which sushi must be eaten to truly be enjoyed. Those who are sensitive to the delicate subtlety of sushi, and don't drown every cut in wasabi saturated shoyu, will appreciate this tradition. You start with the flavor that is most subtle, maguro perhaps, and work up step by step to the strongest flavor, unagi among others. If you start with something strong, such as unagi, you destroy the sensitivity of your palate, and thereby destroy your dinner.

Katsu-Ya - Drive a Brinks truck or eat like a bird.

One thing that will always get a low rating from me is if I leave a place and I'm still hungry. That's what happened here. Be sure to call a taxi since you won't have enough limbs left to drive home with, unless you drive a Brinks truck. The food was GREAT, REALLY GREAT, but extremely small portions. I don't mind spending a lot of money on dinner, but I better be full when I leave. If you're the kind of person that cares more about being seen at the latest buzz location and doesn't care about being fed, this is the place for you.

Daglas Drive In - Best Burger Stand in The Valley.

I've been going here since I was 6 years old. It's still the best burger and fries in The Valley, or even in Los Angeles. If you got a better place tell me and I'll try it; people have for years, but I always come back to Daglas, and it ain't for the nostalgia. Forget Tommies! This is the place. Best Burgers ever. Forget About It!! In fact I'm a bit shocked that I'm the first to write about it. Get off your butts and go get a double cheese burger and enough seasoned fries to give you a heart attack on the way back to the car!
