Excellent lattes, and pretty good pastries

My friend and I did the worst open mic performance in San Diego history at Twiggs about 4 years ago. I'd been too ashamed to show my face there since, but I figure that enough time has passed, and it's safe to go back. And I'm really glad I did.

In the years since that disastrous performance, I've become a bit of a coffee addict, and have scoured San Diego to find the best latte. The lattes at Twiggs are excellent with a strong, heady, smooth espresso flavor. The foam is tight and dense, lending the latte a nice, creamy mouthfeel. I'd say that the lattes here are a close second to Caffe Calabria's.

Another plus is that Twiggs bakes its own pastries, and they're much better than the standard pastries served by most of the indie coffeehouses in San Diego. The scones are nice, maybe a touch dry, but still very good. They're not as fresh and warm as the scones at Rebecca's, but they're more delicate.

Twiggs' comfy, cozy atmosphere, and good food and coffee make it a perfect coffeehouse hangout.
