Finally, I found the best northeastern Thai food that I've never thought I would find in San Diego unless you drive so far to Thai Town in L.A. The food is fantastic as the restaurant's name. Sab-E-Lee means ' really really delicious' Yes, everything is just so so yummy. All the flavors just fall into the right spot. The price is so good and you can go back home with full tummy. My favorite is Nahm Sod, Koy Nua, Tomsab, Somtam and many more I will like in the future if I try. I really recommend this little family restaurant that is bigger than life. Their website is http://www.sab-e-lee.webs.com
I had the great fortune of traveling to Thailand 4 years ago. Being a food fanatic, my fondest memories of the trip all involved food. I've never had Thai food like that before - spicy, sour, salty, sweet all at the same, all intensely strong yet perfectly balanced.

"The food here is notable for its spiciness, which is intense - but there are layered flavors underneath the heat that keep you coming back for more...."
"My new Thai love: catfish larb. What is larb, you ask? It's ground protein, roasted almost to a jerky, that's marinated in lime juice, chilis, and herbs, and topped with rice powder...."
"Yes, in spite of the heat from the chilies, this is one dish that I find hard to stop eating. A pinch of the salad in cabbage in one hand. A ball of sticky rice in the other. Once you start you dare not lose momentum...."
"I ordered everything "less spicy" except for the Koi Soi, which I asked to be "the way I like it". ..."
"it's not Lotus of Siam or Renu Nakorn, but the food is well prepared, and not your average American-ized Thai Food. The menu is large, so there is much to try...."
"The savory fish sauce, when combined with the bright citrus flavor and crisp bamboo makes this a refreshing dish. The woodsy and mildly smoky flavor of the bamboo, I believe from the chemical para-cresol adds depth to the dish...."
"The dishes at San-E-Lee tend to be more savory and spicy than the usual overly-sweet stuff that is served in San Diego. Mainly due to the Northeast Thai roots of the Owner and cooks..."
"And we also got an appetizer with the very appetizing name of BEEF BALLS. The meat was actually packed quite densely. The BALLS were covered with a sweet and sour sauce...."
"Even though this salad was pretty fiery, it didn't make me want to stop eating it! Bert and I kept on picking at this even though I was beginning to sweat...."
"The beef jerky tasted awesome with the fiery dipping sauce and the sticky rice. We totally have to go here again! There's so many things I want to try on their menu!..."
"This is going to ruin all other local Thai restaurants for me. ..."
"I’m happy, though, to eat everything just as the chef thinks it should be—spicy, sour, salty, sweet and delicious. ..."
