Our friends told us about Royal India and we decided to go to Royal India on valentines day. Upon arriving very accomodating hostess seated us. The house was almost full but very comfortable seating we sat near the waterfall. The ambience is palace like and it is very beautiful. As you enter the restaurant the aroma of spices tell you the food is going to be good. We picked valentines day special menu. That included chicken samosa with mint chutney and tamrind chutney YUMMMM. Then came Chicken Garlic Kabab on a sizzler very tender and flavourful the we had shrimp curry and chicken curry with nan and it was soft fresh with basmati rice with cumin seeds was delicious. Dessert was chocolate Cake with mint. It was a great experience and we will be back.

My husband took me to Royal India and it was the best Indian restaurant I've been to in a very long time. The food is amazing, especially the Lobster butter tarka with garlic Nan. The wine selection was great and the ambience was perfect. It is high-class, without being pretentious or stuffy. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the Gaslamp area.
