Yummy and cheap
Marnee Thai

The food here is consistently delicious and inexpensive. The decor is nice also for such an inexpensive place. It's one of my favorite Thai restaurants. I ususally get the khao soy chicken which is really good. And last time I tried the pork and chicken sausage over rice. It was delicious especially when you put the spicy fish sauce condiment on it.

Good chinese food, but has it's drawbacks

They serve high quality Chinese food here. We always end up going here when my parents visit, because we just want to eat good food and aren't necessarily thinking about price. (It's expensive for Chinese food). Also the last time we were there it was quite chaotic and noisy, to the point that I thought we had made the wrong restaurant choice for dinner. You pretty much could only talk to the people sitting right next to you. But once the food started coming I softened. My favorites here are the smoked sea bass and honey walnut prawns. I've also been here for dim sum and it also is better than other restaurants. It's tasty and not as greasy, but it is more expensive. And it is prohibitively crowded too. We stood and waited in the middle of a mob of people for over an hour to get a table on a Saturday. Also the service is pretty bad and often rude. But is the food worth it? Maybe. I can't think of any other Chinese restaurants in San Francisco whose food I really like as much. I can't even think of many Chinese restaurants in this area that I like at all.

This is a nice neighborhood sushi place with stylish and comfortable ambiance. The food is reliably very good and the menu has a lot of variety and some interesting things that you won't find everywhere.

This is a fun little restaurant. The decor is kind of funky and eclectic. The menu is an eclectic mixture of californian fusion type food and comfort food like spaghetti with meatballs and fried chicken. We've been there a few times and everything we've gotten has been tasty and enjoyable.

especially good sushi

Their sushi does taste especially good - a notch above the others. But it is also a little more expensive. It's a good place to take guests who like japanese food because they will be impressed with the quality.

The food was okay and edible, but I don't know why most of the reviews are so positive. I like the decor of the restaurant. It is fun and cute. I've eaten their food twice. The first time it was forgettable and we didn't go back again for a year. Then after reading all the postiive reviews we decided to try it again. But the ribs were dry, cornbread bry and burnt, chicken bland, greens yucky and sour, mac 'n cheese just okay, beans okay. I wouldn't go back here. I'm not really a BBQ connossieur but off the top of my head I like Brother-in-Laws in SF better. And I like Armadillo Willie's down in San Mateo.

I love this little restaurant. We've been there several times and each time we've loved the food. You feel like you need to savor each bite. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Service is great. The decor is cozy and nice. I don't know if they still have it, but they had an early bird dinner that was an especially good deal. But even without the early bird dinner, the quality of food is comparable to a place that is twice as expensive.

Doesn't deserve all the terrible reviews
Todai

I actually really like this place. The trick is you have to know which foods you enjoy and stick to those even though some of the fried Chinese foods might look tempting, they are not all that good. I stick with the sushi, soups, chilled crab legs, desserts, fruit and dim sum. It isn't an upscale place. It's more a place to go when you are really hungry and just want a comfortable place to pig out. Also it is really great for our toddler. She likes the energy there and behaves better than at other restaurants. The only thing is that it is kind of expensive for what it is. If it was a little cheaper we'd probably go a lot more often.

I really enjoy the food here even though I love meat and cheese. The "pizza" is especially good. A lot of their dishes are surprisingly rich and filling. The atmosphere and cozy and friendly.
