This place got remodeled, redesigned, and now under new ownership. It is great! Great for the family, or just a night out. The atmosphere is great, the food is surprisingly good, and the staff is always friendly. Don't be surprised if Alek's himself comes over to talk to you..it's nice to see when management and owners care about you and your input, rather then just taking your money. highly recommended.
My husband & I went here one Saturday night, expecting to wait forever to get in. Not the case, they sat us right away at a table with a young family. We got a little worried, with immediate seating on a Saturday, but still wanted to see what the food was like. I have to tell you - some of the best japanese food we have had. If you live in lake county - this is the best japanese steakhouse in the area!! i highly recommend it, the food was great, the service was good, the the chef was very entertaining - not as hokey as at other places.
You have got to eat here...it is great. Reasonable prices, huge portions, and wonderful taste, service and atmosphere. They have great seafood, steak, and pasta's. I have never had a bad meal there. Great place to go for a special occassion, too. I would make a reservation though, it is always busy!
The food is great here, especially the pizza - which is what keeps me going back, but I have to say....if it was just OK food, the service would make you never come back.
I am not sure how they train their servers, but I have probably visited there about 30 times, and only on a handful of times can I say the service was good. Once you are seated, someone may be by to take your drink order within 10-15 mins. Then expect to wait that for the drinks...and that is if your lucky. On serval occassions my food came before the the drinks! Once you get your food (always from someone who is not your server), you will never see your server again until you start nagging anyone who works there that walks by to please go get them for you.
Luckily, I found Alek's across the street from them. Good food too, and awesome service - try there.
So, I was told to go to this dive of a restaurant from one of it's "regulars". I had driven by the broken down, run down shack for years!! I was encouraged to try it though by one of it's regulars as she claimed it was a real hidden gem.....so I went with my husband and a friend....Well, apparently, you have to be a regular in order to get any type of service or good food. We walk in and the inside resembles the out and is SUPER small, about 15 tables total...okay, I am still game and can't wait to try this fabulous food. Well, we order our dinner....first they are out of the daily special (it is 6pm - seriously??..okay, I am still game, things happen right?), so for dinner we order a burger, spaghetti, and ribs. A whopping 50 minutes later ONE of our meals arrives - the spaghetti, and it was cold! Another 10 minutes later the other 2 meals come. Then another 10 minutes after that my husbands (side order) baked potato comes out. My husband said the ribs were good, but my spaghetti I could have done better with a jar of prego. I guess it pays to be a regular...so if you go, bring someone with who has a "inside connection"
Great place to eat if you have theater tickets. They will accomodate you and get you in and out just in time for your show! Plus, the food is rather tasty. Basic italian dishes on the menu, but some of the best italian basics I have had. The decor is rather fun, too.
