Kung Food is Now Nature's Express and It's Kind of Mediocre
Reviewed By micheler Apr 24, 2009

Well, I have to say that I am grateful that San Diego has another healthy, vegan/raw restaurant.
However, I think these guys could do a bit of a better job. I just went there for dinner and was literally frightened by the cafeteria-style food bar, as the food looked as if it had been sitting out, unattended for hours, if not days. So, I avoided the food bar and decided to get the raw coconut cheesecake, the "grawnola", some chocolate "mylk" and their vegan cornbread... not the most balanced meal, I know, but it was challenging to construct a meal from non-food bar items. The first thing that I found unsatisfactory about the meal was the price: all-in-all it totaled over $20. Ridiculous! The second thing that I disliked was the cornbread. It tasted sour and literally smelled like feet...gross! The "grawnola" was decent but unremarkable and definitely not worth the $5.95 that is cost before tax. The chocolate mylk was actually quite good; however, I felt it was a bit too chocolaty. My guess is the average person would likely be ok with too chocolaty, though. Finally the raw coconut cheesecake was..well.. just ok. I mean, I LOVE raw deserts. They are by far my most favorite raw dishes. And, perhaps this makes me more discerning when it comes to them, but this coconut cheesecake was really nothing to write home about. It was tastey but in an almost too sweet way-They really overdid it with the agave- and the crust was just kind of bland. I've definitely had better, and for %5.95, I certainly expected something much yummier than what I got.
I may give this place another try, but do not see myself making it a regular on my list of restaurants.
