Mixins good, ice cream just OK

I like the whole idea of the mixing in your own ingredients to the ice cream. It makes me feel like I'm a flavor creator at Ben & Jerry's. Their website brags that there are 11 million possible creations (but I'm guessing that most of those are improbable combinations involving more ingredients than can fit in a cup).

Still, good toppings can't make up for mediocre ice cream. The ice cream must always be the star player, and unfortunately Cold Stone's ice cream could be better. I've tried lots of flavors here, and they all lack the luscious, creaminess of premium ice cream.

For some reason, they seem to have a cottony mouthfeel that makes it hard to enjoy the flavor of the ice cream. I'm not sure if this is because they whip too much air into the ice cream, or if they have less milk fat in their ice cream.

It's a shame though; when I'm eating my custom Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, I find myself wishing that I just bought a Heath Bar.
