My family and I had been driving past this little shop on Hwy 2 saying, "maybe we'll stop there on the way back" for well over a year before we finally stopped, and boy are we glad we did! It sure doesn't look like much on the outside, but we were amazed by the inside! The owner Kathryne greeted us as we walked in and was very friendly. She makes the most beautiful chocolates by hand, and has just started serving sandwiches, salads, and wraps.
I ordered a made to order sandwich from a "starter" menu that offerers nearly as many items as your local "subway" does, but my sandwich was far superior to any deli sandwich i have had. All of the ingredients were top of the line, very fresh, and they were very generous with them. (in fact, after seeing how large my sandwich was, my husband and i decided to share one). They have a great meal for the kids too.
They also serve ice cream, they have like 12 flavors, and can dip them in chocolate like dq does.
Which brings me to the Chocolates. Kathryne hand makes all of her candies, and the flavors range from your basic peanut clusters to a pineapple cardimon truffle. My personal favorite is her Sea Salt Caramels- she offers them in red, black, and grey sea salt, and each has a slightly different flavor profile. Her caramel is soft, and even my 14 yo son had no problems eating it, and he has braces! Kathryne joked that you can have braces and dentures at the same time, and still be able to eat it!
The shop itself has a very warm homey feeling to it, they have a kids area, and sell local jewelry and wood carvings.
We will be stopping by every time we go to eastern WA!
and oh yeah, the coffee is great too!
