One of the first (of many) times I went to Bugaboo Creek was with my dad just after we got back from a weekend of skiing. There was a bit of a wait for a table so we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of the signature "Moose Juice" drinks (pineapple infused vodka on the rocks - delicious!) while we got a feel for the vibe of the place. Basically it's a mountain lodge-themed steakhouse, the decor is lots of wood, animal heads mounted on the walls, etc (kitschy, not gruesome) We sat there enjoying our tasty beverages, when all of a sudden the buffalo head above the bar said "Save room for pie!" We looked at each other, looked at our drinks, and simultaneously said "Did you hear that?"
This kind of thing is to be expected at Bugaboo. The moose head sings songs, the mounted fish does a little dance, the wooden goose turns to stare at you while you eat. It's definitely a family-friendly place, and lots of fun. It can get busy especially on weekend nights so be prepared to wait for a table - but it's definitely worth the wait!
The menu definitely has a heavy focus on steaks, and they do them well. The prime rib and the Black Magic steak are my favorites. I also love their baby back ribs, which are sweet, smoky and tender - and, joy of joys, you can get a side of ribs with your steak! As for sides, the smashed red potatoes are so good I've never bothered to try anything else. The salad that comes before the meal is a bit bland, but who really goes to a steakhouse for the salad anyway! Besides, I'm usually still savoring the Bunyan Onion appetizer too much to even notice the salad.
All in all, a fun place with consistently tasty food - I highly recommend it!
