As you can probably tell by looking at the long lines outside of the tiny storefront in Mission Hills, Bronx Pizza serves some of the best pizza in San Diego. Now that Gotham City is gone, Bronx Pizza is back to being my favorite pizza fix.
The pizza here is New York-style -- thin crust, crisp with a bit of chewiness. Their red sauce is nice & balanced. I hate when I'm eating pizza and all I can taste is sauce. I love how the cheese, sauce, and toppings blend together and create that strange alchemy that is pizza magic.
One small quibble is that I think the crust can be a little tough sometimes. By the time, I eat my way to the outer crust, I usually just chuck it. Another one is that I wished they delivered. But this is a small price to pay for pizza this good.
The selection of toppings is very traditional -- the usual suspects like pepperoni, sausage, as well as white pizzas with ricotta. You won't find Thai chicken on their pizzas anytime soon. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
