I would like to serve pizza at my daughter's graduation party. I'm wondering if I wrapped each individual slice in foil and put them in a chafing dish if this would be effective. Anyone ever tried this?

Hi, Craig,

If you are talking about the Nesco convection roaster (not the dehydrators or deep fryers I hope!), I think leaving fully-cooked burgers in there for an extended amount of time might dry them out.

Maybe if you follow Sally's suggestion about cooking the burgers rare, and then putting them in the roaster, you will get a better result, but that depends on whether you're planning on serving them later. If you're planning on serving them right away during a short period of time, it's probably better to just cook them through and keep them warm in foil.

I love this round-up! We enjoy fondues of all types, sweet and savory, and this gives us some new recipes to try. Thanks!

I am so looking forward to fresh fruits, and so are my boys! We don't have to disguise fruit for our boys because they are constantly getting into whatever fruits we have on hand. Early strawberries are starting to come in from California, but by the time they reach us on the East Coast they don't have much life left. In a few more weeks there will be lots of pick your own strawberries at local farms, and we plan to indulge!

Is it ok to put cooked hamburgers in a nesco with beer and brats? Or what are some thoughts or suggestions you might have?

Sounds like it was a fun battle! I'll have to try Knockout - I've driven by them a million times and never gone in.

I will add another place to the list for the north(ish) county dwellers - when I lived in Carmel Valley I used to go to Mario's NY Pizzeria all the time (http://mariosnewyorkpizza.com/) They have excellent NY style pizza with that awesome crisp-chewy-charred crust and a nice balance of sauce and cheese. It reminds me very much of the pizza from my family's favorite pizzeria when I was growing up in Queens, and you can't get much higher praise than that ;)

I used to be one of the people who relied on scone kits but after discovering a wonderfully delicious scone recipe on BakingandBooks I now can say I can whip up a nice batch that is a perfect match for my morning cup of coffee.

Great writeup Howie. It was a tough taste test for sure. Only by sampling all 7 pizzas and looking for differences in them could we say which was better. Each pizza on its own would be just fine if it were the only one to eat. (Except Hoboken, IMO)
It was pretty surprising to see such a clear winner and then the other 6 sort of grouped more closely together.
I really enjoyed the experience and look forward to more of them.
